does anyone knows how to speed up a computer because my computer was really fast when I bought it took like a minute or two to start the computer but now it's taking longer than 5 minutes. Does anyone knows what's going on and how I can fix this?

by the way, I'm just using 26.3 GB out of 183 GB of memory.

I was actually gonna ask about your memory, good job.

You don't have a virus potentially? Do you?

spyware ? Some programs cannot find it. I recommend reformat every 6 to a year to keep your computer healthy. Or Disk defragmenter but doesnt always work.

LOL.. I forgot to say months in the sentence.. 6 months to a year.

lil-devil.. Not necessarily. smile.gif

I just insert windows cd and restart and got black screen say:

Press any cd to boot... then follow the instruction. smile.gif I had Dell for 6 years and never had a problem and now I have no brand computer and works as charm. smile.gif

If you are going the reformatting route, be sure to have all of your drivers on an external drive or CD.

I have been reformatting my computer a lot, I don't know if I'm doing it right though, here let me show you a picture.

I choose the second option to format the computer, but still if i'm doing it right my computer is still slow. By the way, i'm going to download microsoft antispyware and scan my computer. I also saw this program that could speed up window xp but I don't remember the name of it.

Hmm... I'd think that a recovery done from the same drive you are recovering wouldn't be complete, it would probably still leave a good amount of bloat... Does it restart the computer and perform the recovery before booting into the OS?

You could just try doing a fresh install of Windows, by booting from the installation disk with the latest updates and such, as long as you have your drivers.
